The Aboyne Highland Games on 2nd August 2009 was the backdrop for the main annual gathering of Clan Hay, where we took our place in the Clan village with the Irvines, Leasks, Forbeses, Gordons, Burnetts and Frasers.  The success of the year of the homecoming meant we welcomed a larger than usual contingent of Hays from all corners of the world.

The weekend began when we were invited to join the Clan Burnett at their Friday evening ceilidh in the neighbouring town of Banchory. Then, on Sunday 3rd August members of the Clan were entertained to lunch at Delgatie Castle, the Clan Hay Centre, by the castle’s chatelaine Joan Johnson.
