The main annual gathering of Clan Hay took place over the weekend of the 7th and 8th of August in and around the clan’s heartland of Aberdeenshire. As usual, our hospitality tent at the Aboyne Highland Games provided a welcome for Hays from the four corners of the world.
On Sunday 8th August, members were entertained to lunch at the Clan Hay Centre, Delgatie Castle near Turriff in Aberdeenshire. Here it was announced that our long standing treasurer, Mrs Josie Hay Bailey, had decided to retire and Malcolm Hay paid tribute to her sterling work on our behalf over many years, before announcing the appointment of Mrs Pam Rotheroe-Hay to be treasurer in her stead. We thank Josie for her outstanding contribution to the work of the society and welcome Pam to her new role.
Coincidentally, Saturday 7th August was the 80th birthday of Josie’s husband and very supportive clan member, Bill Bailey. Delgatie Castle trustee and custodian Joan Johnson provided Bill with a cake to mark the occasion when we wished him a very happy birthday.
