Clan Hay Journal Due for Publication

Barnyards Farm, scene of the eponymous ballad

The 2014 Clan Hay Journal, eagerly anticipated by Clan Hay Society members, is now with the printers and will be despatched late next week.  It is anticipated it will arrive with its readers sometime during the week beginning March 24th, depending on where in the world they are based.

Thanks to the hard work of editor Pam Rotheroe-Hay, the Journal is packed with detail that will provide something for every Hay, whatever their interests.

2013 was a particularly active year and the Journal reports on activities including the Clan Hay tour of Scotland in July and the annual gathering of Clan Hay in Aberdeenshire in August.  The commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden is covered.  There are reports of the activities of the Clan Hay Society's branches in the United States, Canada, Australia and continental Europe.  There is an interview with Clan Hay Society member Mike Hay, who led the British team to considerable success in the recent Winter Olympics.

Historical features include a look at the history of the Royal Scots Greys, one of Scotland's finest military regiments, and an examination of the Hay tartans.  We learn the true story of the well known ballad, The Barnyards o' Delgaty and hear of the lives of Hays of renown, past and present.

Finally we learn of plans for a very active year in 2014 and look ahead to activities for 2015, already in the planning stages.

The Clan Hay Journal is circulated to all members of the Clan Hay Society.  Click on the 'Membership' tab at the top of this page to ensure your copy.
