Wednesday evening found the Clan Hay Flodden Tour setting out for Neidpath Castle. What appears form the exterior to be little more than a ruin, revealed an exciting interior. The ground floor hosted an exhibition in which the previous Hay owners featured prominently.
We were treated to a delicious range of cakes by the guides and had the opportunity to explore the other floors. There have been many changes and additions over the years and it was clear that it had once been a most comfortable residence.
Those who ventured onto the roof discovered stunning views over the River Tweed.
On from Neidpath we found Floors to be a complete contrast with its palatial rooms and furnishings. Still the home of the Roxburghes it continues to exude comfort.
The following supper we followed up an invitation to visit a local pub where a darts challenge took place and the jukebox supported dancing until the early hours.
