The speaker will be Clan Hay Archivist Alan Hay and the subject is Delgatie and its lairds. In the course of the next 45 minutes or so I will look at the history and architecture of Delgatie Castle, this splendid Aberdeenshire tower house, which has been in Hay hands for most of the last 600 years, passing through three branches of Clan Hay, and now functioning as the Clan Hay Centre. Alan will examine the history of the six families that have owned the property (Fraser, Garden of Troup, the Earls of Fife, Grant-Duff of Eden, and Ainslie, as well as the Hays) and the influence each of them had on the development of the castle and its surrounding lands and barony.
